Unforgiveness is a poison you take yourself to hurt another person. Translation: It only hurts you. When you decide to forgive someone for something they’ve done, guess what? YOU will feel the weight of that hurt lift off your shoulders. Forgiveness is for YOU!
Let’s not kid ourselves here – forgiveness is difficult. I’m here to help you break through the barriers that keep you in locked in unforgiveness. When I learned to forgive my dad for murdering my mother and himself in front of my own eyes, it blew the doors of my life wide open! I don’t want you to miss out on that amazing experience. When we hold on to unforgiveness, we tell ourselves it’s because the other person (or perhaps ourselves) doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. But the real reasons we are afraid to forgive are:
Today was Day 21, and I truly cannot believe how far I have come in 3 weeks with loving myself. A few nights ago I took this self-portrait, and when I saw it, I saw the new me that loves herself. I made a print of it and put it on my mirror, because looking into my own eyes has never felt so good. I do not think I could have made this photo with this kind of peaceful knowing look on my face 3 weeks ago. Thank you all again and again for sharing this journey with me!
